Impact of the Australian Government’s 2025 environment protection reforms on Queensland

The QPC has been asked by the Queensland Government to undertake a public inquiry into the impacts of the Australian Government’s 2025 reforms to the Environmental Protection and Biodiversity Act 1999 (Cth) on Queensland.

The inquiry will examine how the reforms affect Queensland in practice, by focussing on regulatory burden, economic impacts, implementation risks and operational arrangements. Where relevant, options are to be identified to reduce unnecessary regulatory burden and improve regulatory efficiency.

The QPC will release further information on the inquiry shortly.

All interested stakeholders are encouraged to subscribe to receive updates on opportunities for consultation, the release of reports and other inquiry information.
